Jonathan is a PhD student at the iSchool’s Human-AI Interaction Lab, advised by Dr. Min Kyung Lee. His research involves employing stakeholder-centric, participatory methods to understand individuals’ and communities’ experiences with AI and to design algorithmic systems that support their values and needs. He is interested in creating better algorithms and software through socio-technical approaches as well as issues of power, marginality, and inequality within these systems. More broadly, his interests span across the disciplines of Human-Computer Interaction, Critical Algorithm Studies, Machine Learning, and ICT4D.
